I've got the same problem, infact i can't even boot of the livecd i had
to install of the alternate cd. In all honesty this is a huge bug, i

I've been having the same issue on a clean install of Gutsy, even with
the latest updates. Bug #146946 describes my issue perfectly.
Henriël Veldtmann suggested a fix that has solved my problems so far:
installing the dbus-X11 package. I'm not positive why this solves
things, but it does for me.

Same problem here. If a flash video is paused rhythmbox will not start
playing until it has been restarted and no flash video is playing. Flash
videos will play but without sound if a song in rhythmbox is paused.
Same thing happens with skype. I have the newest libflashsupport from
the hardy repos.

I just tried reproducing the problem with desktop effects turned off.
It suspended and resumed just fine.
I turned desktop effects back on, and got a similar kernel panic.
So, I guess this is related to compiz.

This is really an issue since FF3's webpage and UI fonts are much worse
than in FF2. In Gutsy, Cairo adopted tweaks for LCD screens (at least)
that were really nice. In FF3 backport fonts look terrible. See the

I just upgraded my gutsy desktop system to hardy.
I'm running it with the non-open nvidia graphics drivers using the
"restricted driver manager".
It suspends okay. When I resume, I get a kernel panic.

Is there any reason that this shouldn't be used on any system that uses
libnss_ldap? Indeed, it seems that it would make sense to just include all
the groups in the /etc/group file in this list. Am I missing something?
