Here is the promised debdiff. I built it from hardy's sources and added a new
patch (in debian/patches, of course) which makes knetworkmanager behave just
like nm-applet in this matter.
Runs fine on my laptop (and updates live, like it should).
P.S. Sorry for erroneously changing the bug status
Workaround: (just found out). Go in -Stand by- mode , close and open the
lit and everything is back to normal.

Why isn't this considered closed - i tried the

in /etc/default/acpi-support as given abave by jkyamog and it works for
me too (t43 ubuntu upgraded 7.10).

which appears to be fixed, as "hdparm -f" does not cause the init script to
fail anymore.

in hardy that would like to build libapache2-mod-rpaf. libapache-mod-
rpaf FTBFS when trying to build the apache1 module, so the conflict

I have the same problem. However, it is NOT erratic. The bug disappears
as soon the following events occur:
xchat window is minimized
a message is received on any channel the user is on
the user clicks the icon (this causes the xchat window to be disappear, as the
icon is designed to do)
the user
I'm also experiencing this bug, but it does not seem to be limited to gtk
programs, Konsole is also affected.
I am unable to give you steps to reproduce the bug, though it keeps happening.
The bug occurs under both KDE and XFCE.
SCIM/SKIM seems to be involved, as killing it after this bug occurre

When I try to print the attached document, most pages look fine. But e.g. page
55 and 57 are either empty or contain some garbage characters although they are
rendered correctly in the viewer. If you want to test this it is enough to have
