What I can argue from all the things reported above, especially the ones
regarding the peppelorum "fix", is that the guys in charge for this "bug" are
sleeping tight.
Packaging problem need minutes to fix, especially if someone else already
identifiled the problem, found the fix, did the tests.

Even when I attempt to manually select/edit my WinXP partition at boot-

I started the Hardy Alpha-2 on my computer and the Ubuntu splash was
displayed correctly. I don't know what about the desktop because the
live-cd didnt' want to start because the computer has only 320mb of RAM.
Probabily the problem does not occur in Hardy. But it's still actual
with Gutsy.

After this morning's fresh boot, sound is now working with Flash and
VLC. Totem still hangs but that's looking to be more an issue with
totem than the sound architecture. Quality seems ok, even with PCM at
