kernel updates (dated 19-12-2007) and when I try to mount my NFS shares

The debian one is correct...
The only difference between them is only when untar/gunzip, the ubuntu
was changed because it unpacks to "python-coverage-2.6.orig" directory
and debian to python-coverage-2.6. A diff -u against coverage.py (the
only file inside the tarball) doesn't have any difference

your patch, so it's only *now* that it's fixed in Ubuntu.

The question of OEM's adding proprietary bits to Ubuntu has been the

I would disagree that this issue is *fixed*. Bolek indicated that an
*upgrade* from Feisty to Gutsy on a certain architecture (including a
SiS 5513 IDE driver) will cause the computer to be unbootable, while a
fresh install on the same computer will have it working like a charm.

installing the above package results in a breakage of my wireless. eth1

I can buy a computer from Dell with Windows on it and overwrite the HD
with Ubuntu, but that's also sub-optimal.
Adobe's Flash plugin is gratis; AFAIK, LinDVD is not however
