It's likely that upstream doesn't care about the non compatible changes

As you can see in the blkids outpus, the partitions sda1 and sdb1 have
the same UUID. This is why you get the error message when you try to
mount sdb1 since it is already mounted as sda1.

I can confirm this. Compiling a driver from http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.net/
again solves the problem, but:
* you have to make a symbolic link from /usr/include/pixman1/pixman.h to
/usr/include/pixman.h manually (it was there in gutsy)
* the 7.8.3 stable version doesn't compile, you need 7.9.3

Almost every time I am playing a video in Kaffeine and switch to another
application and then switch back to the kaffeine window the whole X crashes and
restarts.
I have not seen any difference if the video is paused or if the kaffeine
windows is minimized before switching
