I have now built this patch for myself and tested it, it fixes the
problem with the menu commands not getting to the telescope. My

Don't remember windows driver name, something generic mumbo jumbo. But
went the hard way and opened the adapter casing :) Chipset inside is
Atmel AT76C502A. It seems that it has linux drivers, but gutsy doesn't
work out of box with the adapter card.

symptoms and discovered that the problem stemmed from the permissions of
/etc/pam.d/common-password being incorrectly set to 600 when it should
be 644. Looking at /var/log/auth.log should confirm or deny whether

My wireless worked fine under 2.6.20 kernels with the rt2500 driver.
Upon update to Gutsy, service was very poor with the recommended rt2500pci
So I installed the Feisty linux-image-2.6.20-16-generic package under Gutsy ,
and am connecting fine using its rt2500 driver under 2.6.20-16-generic bootu
Well... you don't thing I'll stay without a valid CD-Rom drive...
And you know what ? It's worse on Feisty The 2.6.xx.20 hang my CD-ROM,

Maybe this will clarify things a bit:
The problem is that in a Rhythmbox installation in Ubuntu 7.10, the GOOM
visualization plugin does not work -- when visualization is active and
GOOM is selected, Rhythmbox can even seize up and almost freeze.

similar problems here. -- fresh gutsy install, noticed that copying
files from various folders to the desktop was actually putting them into
.Trash.
i emptied the trash and restarted through gnome. now, gnome was treating
my home folder as ~/Desktop, and the desktop_as_home_dir option was not
set

I like your solution Dario (I have not tested it yet). However, I'm not
sure it should be considered a fix. Before applying this workaround,
tty1 was being started earlier. We were forced to delay tty1, and
therefore the appearance of the login prompt, due to rc2's output
