upgrading to Feisty, too. I'm currently running Gutsy, but "Blank
Screen" and "Suspend" on lid close do not work out of the box on Gutsy.

somehow, on Feisty Fawn i did manage to solve this problem, using a
strange combination of settings which i don't remember any more :(
Now on a fresh install of Gutsy Gibbon, suspend doesn't work anymore,
showing the colored screen once again on every resume.

Turns out that upstream's fix for CVE-2007-4572 was incomplete and
Feisty and Gutsy are also affected. As such, feisty and gutsy packages
have been disabled. I have also linked to the upstream bug report.
Updated packages without this patch will be provided for all releases.
