How did you send the test page to the PDF printer? If you send it from
system-config-printer (the standard printer setup tool in Ubuntu Gutsy)
from hp-toolbox (HP printers only) or by simply printing the file

Same problem here. I have a WinXP installation in QEMU that ran
perfectly under feisty. After upgrading to Gutsy, it hangs during boot.
I inserted the WinXP install CD and booted from it. It starts loading
installation files off the CD and then BSOD (page fault).
I reverted QEMU back to 0.8, but
Forgot to add: I'm running QEMU 0.9 + kernel 2.6.22 on my other PC
(which is Gentoo) and it has no problem with running the WinXP QEMU
session. So it seems it is something with Gutsy itself, not kernel or

This same problem occurs on Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon with Xircom
RealPort REM56G-100 in a Dell Inspiron 4000 laptop. Most likely in
Latitude C series laptops as well since they are virtually identical.
Physically ejecting the card and re-inserting it brings the network
(eth0) up in seconds.

openais can be executed standalone (hence the openais init script) or
via cman but they shouldn't be executed together on the same machine. I
don't know what kind of behaviour that will have.

get this to work if I moved the file to a path without any spaces in it.

Ah. So what confused me was that what used to be eth0 is now eth1. After
fixing interfaces to refer to eth1, I can now boot and log in. Thanks!

When you boot from the cd the first time, just add acpi=force to the
traditional boot options (with F6 if I remember correctly), acpi should
be enabled then. Does it solve your issue ?

Because this is the issue with every Firefox computer I have. Here's a

I have a new install of Gutsy amd64 on a brand new Thinkpad T61. The video is
