I can confirm the same problem on my side. I believe it is a problem
with the default font used in 7.10. Unfortunatelly, I can't figure out
which one it is.
The basic problem is that the letter å should be an 'a' with a small
circle 'o' above it, but it turns out to be a little 'c' above the 'a' .

I have a very similar problem - after two or three suspend/resume cycles
the system suspends no more when the lid is closed. Restarting guidance-
power-manager fixes the problem.

I attempted the fix proposed by Brandon Snider and it did not work for
me. I also created a new user with default .gnome configs and login was
still very slow. Since I use a laptop, with an ATI card, and suspend is
broken with both the radeon and fglrx driver, this is a pretty serious

After Upgrading to Ubuntu 7.10 and the latest Stellarium these problems
arouse:
Mouse jitters continuously and intermittently disappears.

Gthumb worked great until I upgraded to Gutsy. Now it and fstop doesn't
recognize my camera (Olympus D-435), the camera is not in the catalog,
either. It sees the camera as model C-370 and then says there are no
photos to import. The camera has
