Some quick testing. This error appears when you run Metacity as well but
the difference is that Metacity is seeing it as a crash, unlike Compiz.
I can replicate this about 1 in every 5 times (or so), simply by opening
the window. However, strace, ltrace and gdb are giving me nothing.

since latest Gutsy updates (14th october) CPU fan of my Dell 6400 (one
of those shipped with ubuntu in Europe. similar to the E1505) is really
noisy. I haven't had that problem with Gutsy-Beta or Feisty. Now usually
five minutes after startup the fan goes to 100% lound
It remembers the memory thing everytime. But I have "gnome-panel etc"

realistic still.

I am running Ubuntu Feisty 7.04 on a IBM Thinkpad T40p.
I started the upgrade to gutsy beta with the command
update-manager -d

Are you using a non-ubuntu packaged gtk-theme (e.g. from gnome-look.org)
or the Crux-theme? If so, please change the theme to e.g. clearlooks or
human and try to reproduce the bug. There is a known issue with
openoffice.org and broken gtk-themes.

New Intel driver doesn't support Xinerama afaik. Maybe that was the
problem but could you please recheck it with current Gutsy and xrandr.
With xrandr it should be possible to enable and disable external
monitors and change the modes.
