I can reproduce the bug with aplay (and rhythmbox) using Loïc's
instructions to convert affected .ogg file to 32-bit .wav. 16-bit .wav
file doesn't expose the bug. The .ogg file is from upstream bug report
(http://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=87621).

I've been playing with this, and found forcing a reset of the Xv registers
after a mode-switch seems to help this problem.

Glad it works.
It's to late to add this to the docs for the Gutsy release, but it'd be REALLY
helpful if you would add a HOW TO for this to wiki.ubuntu.com so people will
know about it.

I am experiencing the "failing 3d texture size check" issue too. This used to

The license of the driver provided by Canon for the ip1500 does not allow it to
