Hm. Maybe it has to to something with the display drivers? Because there
is a tool called 'radeontool' which claims to be a 'utility to control
backlight on radeon based laptops'. I can turn the backlight completely
off with that tool, but cannot dim it. Dimming for me only works with
'echo -n 62 >

I'm using an Asus A8Js and when I run acpi_listen, it registers when i
hit FN+F5 to reduce the brightness but no event is registered when I hit
FN+F6 to try to increase it.
Any idea on how to fix this? I've upgraded my BIOS to 213 from 210 but
it still doesn't work.

Got it. lcdsize would grep for "Virtual Size ?x?" in the server log, and
in filtering out "?x?" it would also keep whatever was on the rest of
the line.
This patch fixes it for the vesa case, but the regexps for all the
drivers have the same issue and should probably be corrected.

when i load mp3, totem display the duration of the song but don't play it

I can confirm motplux's situation:
With 2.6.22-13 the tty is garbaged again and fbcon trick does not work. It
worked/works with 2.6.22-12.
This is T23 with S3 Inc. SuperSavage IX/C SDR (rev 05)
