i have checked some tasks and killing the hal daemon solved this
problem. As i could find out the problem is due to the fact that my
harddrive is mounted as /dev/sda which for the hal daemon is a removable
device. This is wrong, normally it should be mounted on /dev/hda so the

I have tried it. I passed -- break=init to the kernel and came in a
shell, but in this shell i could not edit /etc/xdg/xfce4/xinitrc because

I have finally solved this problem on my laptop with Ubuntu 7.04.
This bug is not related to acpi-support but to gnome-power-manager.
The problem is that the suspend event and the screen lock are handled by
gnome-power-manager daemon, which intercepts the suspend button event,
activates the gnome
This bug has three duplicates, each of which is for a specific card.
So, those bugs were marked duplicates of this one... and now you've
marked this bug invalid because it is not specific enough. That seems
kind of inconsistent, if you see what I mean.

This bugreport describes 2 problems:
1. X-Window-System always is launched with 1400x1050 resolution after
configuration with displayconfig-gtk :(
This is because displayconfig-gtk always (where I tested) writes the same line
- "Virtual 1920 1440" in SubSection "Display" of Section "Screen"
2.

Not sure here but all i was doing was trying to download Bibblepro for
editing when i clicked to download the program FF went down. i rebooted
system shut off routers and modem and restarted everything new same
thing happened again.
