I should probably add a comment here since I'm the one who wrote 'right-
click' in the test case. There is indeed an icon in the podcast section,
which is arguably more discoverable than the right-click option.
Instead of describing the icon in the test case, I opted for right-

i got exactly the same problem on kubuntu.
I had the same problem on my old computer and now i got a new computer with a
totally different hardware, a fresh installation and it does the same thing.
I can tell that it only happens when i don't use the computer during some time
(at least one hour).
Ok, it seems the static option on the nm-applet is simply a pointer to
the System -> Administration -> Networking application. Network-manager
has no static option and is never designed to have.
See bug #5364 for more info. I hope this helps clear anyone else's
confusion on this 'bug'.

So from the strace, it looks like it's failing while trying to load
vgahw. Maybe it'd be worth adding `Disable "vgahw"` in the Modules
section?
Of course, I wonder why it is trying to load vgahw - shouldn't it be
attempting to load -amd? According to the strace, prior to the vgahw
stuff, it does
same problem here, latop is HP dv2412ca, sound card is detected and seem
to be configured but I hear no sound. This morning, when I booted my
laptop, I had sound (I haven't done anything special beside booting) but
now that I have restart the computer, sound went away again.
I tested with Gutsy li
I can also confirm. Using kernel 2.6.22-12-generic on a thinkpad x60s.
This is in gutsy, using the intel xorg driver.
The same freeze happens with the 'gnujump' package, which should replace
the sdljump one, but doesn't seem to yet (and they can't both be
installed at the same time).

If your nVidia card is g80-based, you may be able to do this with
xrandr.
If you prefer using the old Xinerama behavior, you'll need to downgrade
your -ati driver to version 6.6.3 (the version from Feisty).

This seems redundant.
Using inkscape and perlmagick (on Gutsy) seems to work fine.
