Yesterday I made a clean install from the latest tribe live cd and the
brightness controls worked fine, they also worked from the live cd.

Changing the component to synaptics. As additional information, I cannot

I have filed a new bug 144193. I have consistently the problem that the
touchpad works on the second X display otherwise, but buttons do not
work. If using an external mouse, its buttons still work. Also if I
manually switch back to the first session, unlock the screen and switch
back, the buttons
