and downloaded updated ones from brother's site. Installed them normally
with dpkg, DCP7010 is set to default and I have no problems. OO works

On an older Dell laptop with a RT73 chipset wireless USB dongle,
wireless works fine on boot. If I open pidgin, within 20 seconds the
wireless is gone, and "dhclient wlan0" reports that there is no such
device. If I cntrl-alt-F5 to tty5 its just tons of repeating messages

with iwconfig. It won't connect to the network even if it is configured
with iwconfig.
You have to deactivate roaming mode, then reboot, then manually
configure with iwconfig.

Same here.
When booting kernel 2.6.22-, 10 and 11, on my HP laptop I end up in initramfs
and I get the error message:
mount: Mounting /dev/disk/by-uuid/XXX-etc... on /root
failed: Device or resource busy
The attachment is lspci -vvnn when running kernel 2.6.20-16-generic in recovery
mode.

I am not quiet sure concerning the patches. I first replaced the
nautilus-sendto-0.7 patch with nautilus-sendto-0.12-thunderbird.patch
and the package built fine. And the thunderbird-bug seems to befixed.
But trying nautilus-sendto-0.12-thunderbird-2.patch, I can not build the
package.

Ok, I see the problem. The installed "curl" binary is linked against
OpenSSL instead of GnuTLS.
I'm attaching another script, which uses pycurl to perform the same
logic.
