When I tried to create a DVD with some recordings I chose the Long Play
format. Mytharchive will then call ffmpeg to re-code the mpeg files with
resolution 352x576. This is obviously wrong and ffmpeg terminates.

To test the installer, I tried to start a HVM DomU.

Indeed - I spent several hours trying to determine and fix the issue.
Not being able to use the Alternate installer, I gave up on it.
The problem seemed to be in the initrd trying to mount the hard drives
on the /cdrom mount-point:

The patch applies correctly to the 2.6.22.6 kernel and works fine for the
ST320413A. I have not tested the other drive yet.
I attach dmesg output.
It is a great work. I hope the patch makes its way to standard kernels soon.

Removing milestone. This is not release critical at all, and still
requires actual benchmarks to verify that the startup time reduction
justifies the cost of always regenerating all locales on every update or
installation/removal of language support.
