they were in my home directory. The rest of my music is in the NTFS
partition, though. That's why I think this doesn't have to do with ntfs-

Interestingly enough, AccelMethod "exa" causes this on my laptop.
The laptop is a Pentium 4 2.8Ghz with 1G memory and an ATI Radeon Mobility 9000
(R250) sharing the main memory.
However, AccelMethod "XAA" and having RenderAccel "true" fixes it.
exa was faster on Edgy.

Subject to the title being edited I can confirm that I don't see any
relevant hardware in lspci. I do have IR devices which I don't use (lost
the remote).

the test program works. A C++ conversion of the program also works. It

I second the request to add a menu item to enable "Device Manager" to
write the output to some sort of text file.

You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you while
using a more recent distribution? For 600X it should afaik work at
Feisty already, but the 600X got still acpi updates to even the kernel
that is going to Guts
Perhaps I can just add to this bug that the Restricted Driver Manager
doesn't have any description either of this driver. So something like
calling it "Linux Infrared Remote Control driver" (the long version of
lirc) would be better.

Sorry. Apparently sscanf() is supposed to handle spaces like any number
of spaces or none. Indeed if I revert the code to use sscanf() it works
now, but I'm pretty sure it didn't work at the time. libc bug which was
fixed meanwhile?
