Actually, I am not sure this is a bug in gnome-volume-manager, but a
consequence of the distribution policy regarding package “hal”, and more
exactly the file
/usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/20-storage-methods.fdi.
As per the lines 111 to 124 of that file, fixed partitions included in
blindwidow - this bug was marked as invalid because it was incomplete
and was not very useful. Could you please submit a new bug report using
update-manager as the package, include your '/etc/apt/sources.list'
file, the release of Ubuntu that you are using, and assign the bug

Well, i gave a it a shot. Seems that both the scripts/init-bottom/udev
script and the two subsequent mounts cause the segmentation faults. 3 in
total.
Could be that the pkill call inside the udev script is also managing to
segfault.
I'd set this to busybox.

(I'm not the original poster. I'm not going to do a clean install; I
use my laptop for work and don't have time to reinstall from scratch).
I'm running Gutsy, and generally keeping up with updates. As soon as
trackerd was installed, I noticed my system became unusable.
My laptop is a Core Duo 2
+1 for me. I would rather install it from the distro than from an
unsupported 3rd party repo.

My laptop has been running trackerd for the last 4 days or so. I still

I re-open because when kdm start I get the default kdm login theme, even
if kds is installed. I don't if it's related but the ksplash is way too
big on my system.

I believe this should be fixed as soon as possible purely due to the
severity of the bug. If I'm using the EXA acceleration architecture and
try to run compiz, the machine hard-locks, and I have to force a power-
down, potentially damaging the hard-drive and hardware (happens on my
laptop

I investigated a little bit and the shfs kernel module seems to unmaintained
since 2004.
There are at least 2 kernel changes that make 2.6.20 incompatible with the
module.
However, there is a package sshfs which provides equivalent functionality using
fuse.
Install it and add
