I found the problem, the bridge that I tried to load with modprobe was
the wrong one.
The right module was i82365. After a modprobe i82365, it worked
perfectly!

tracker uses stemming (like any good indexer) and the stem word for
"icky" is "icki"
if you are not getting a match it could be because the file is an mp3
and you didn't have the gstreamer ugly plugins installed when you first

Editing /etc/hosts solved my problem.
127.0.1.1 was xxx.brycewhite.com (which wasnt resolving)
By changing this line the slow down of application launching was
immediately resolved.
It seems that if you have a 127.0.1.1 that doesnt immediatly resolve
(firewall/router/invalid dns entry) then this

I'm a total Linux and Ubuntu noob, but keen to get into it. I have this
