I had exactly the same issue, desktop effects was enabled after
installing the nvidia-glx driver and restarting X. Clicking 'enable
desktop effects' caused the above error, but i am unable to reproduce,
clicking the button again disables / enables desktop effects fine and
does not error anymore.

I have this problem in Fiesty! I can only confirm it for cd's since I
have only a cd burner. This has happened when using Rhythmbox for audio
cd's, and the Nautilus front end (Places > CD/DVD Creator) for data

Hmm. In order to stand a chance of answering that query it would have
been nice to have seen the output of dmesg while the problem was
happening. It could be that a necessary dot file which tells the system
to use the newer drivers rather than the standard one was missing but

the Toshiba A205-4577. I GET SOUND and its very loud too. :) I am now

Thanks, really the application more frecuently I use is openoffice.org writer,
but sometimes when I open a Powerpoint presentation, closing the application I
receive an unexistent error and the application tries to retreive the file,
apening a new opeonoffice.org writer document.

The reason why I had still a problem with 0.0.28-1~feisty1 was probably that I
changed manually gconf settings of max_port,
so package update did not replace it for me...
