This doesn't happen only on encrypted DVD. It happens and in self-burned
media. I haven't tried installing libdvdcss3 but not having a DVD inside
the drive, seems not to cause a system freeze.

I have exactly this problem (Asus A6000, i386 feisty clean install) and
it still happens after installing libdvdcss. Please not that it also
happens while I'm not watching DVD and with CD roms or audio CDs in the
drive. This indicates that it is not related to libdvdcss. It didn't

I think the warning "Open failed" in the last log is not indicative of
any problem, but just how the driver looks for cards. I therefore close
the bug, since the original problem seemingly was fixed in Feisty final.
Please reopen the bug if needed.

just simple go to system >preference> sound

Due to change of Artifex' license policy to do the head development of
Ghostscript under GPL and the merger of the extra functionality of ESP
Ghostscript (ESP Ghostscript is discontinued now), the packages gs-esp
and gs-afpl got obsolete. They are both replaced by gs-gpl, version 8.60

This bug was fixed in the last set of updates.
Didn't take too much notice of what the updates were but I just retried
some WMF files & the option to convert was available again & they
converted successfully.

I ripped out the DVD-RW when the tray opens shortly. It then
retracts...and... k3b does this:
