Addressing your comments in reverse order: the -U option is used to
connect the sooperlooper engine to an extant slgui session for OSC
control. I'm not sure why it's undocumented, and it probably shouldn't
segfault when it fails, but that's somewhat expected behaviour (although

In order to make this work in all cases, I think ps3-kboot needs to grow
support for mounting the root filesystem by UUID. It looks like it can
support mount-by-UUID for other filesystems, but not for the root. Ben?

Actually, I would rather see the documentation one.
The application is working ok. The reason you see files being repeated
is, build-index does not have any filter (parser) for screensaver
desktop files, so when the indexer gets such a file it says "Error:
Could not filter file: No desktop entry"

like mplayer and xine. This annoys me since Ubuntu 6.10.
Fix is easy and trivial patch attached.
Don't if the .m4v suffix is mentioned in some standard, but e.g. the CCC
