Feisty will not
Mine started happening on Feisty (Kubuntu and Xubuntu on 2 different
partitions). Edgy and Dapper doesn't have any problems copying .dat

I also have these vmware install problems on a atheros wifi card. Since
edgy I'm not able to install via synaptic. Took another computer with an

Check you have "decoration" listed in gconf-editor under
/apps/compiz/general/allscreens/options/active_plugins. I've had this
problem previously when I've had old compiz gconf settings.

I have the same problem. I have the sound mixer panel applet and it
shows the master volume bar changing colors when muting, although there
is no change in how the music sounds. This was working perfectly just
a few weeks ago. I don't remember what broke it... maybe feisty

Oh boy. Just tried clearing my Deleted Items folder (only had a few KB
of files) on /boot and repeated the distribution upgrade attempt -
failed again with similar message as before. Now the Update Manager says
that "There are 715 updates available" (was 35). From the offered
package names, these a
I can confirm. I installed the Edubuntu 7.04 Desktop cd as a quick way
to set up a standalone workstation with educational software. Imagine my
surprise when at the end of the installation, ubiquity removed all of
the software that the live-cd had under the education menu!

After installing the hal update (0.5.9-1ubuntu2~feisty1) released
several days ago, eject becomes unmount on the context menu for USB hard
drives. I think It is a workaround for this problem, but it's not a nice
solution.

I just installed Ubuntu 7.04 but I haven't gotten it to load yet. I can
input my user name and password just fine but in all startups other than
terminal failsafe the following happens:
Nautilus comes up and several icons appear then it disappears
task bars appear at the top

Happens here too, on a Treo 90. The workaround of adding visor to
/etc/modules works for me.
Does anyone have an idea yet why the visor module is no longer loaded?

This happened when I logged in into KDesktop Environment and the desktop
was being loaded. I had been also facing similar crashes during normal
usage, when the FireFox had just closed down with no errors.
