now no acpi-support is working. It seems to me, there is no acpi in the
ubuntu-kernel (i can't imagine). The directory /proc/acpi does not

I'd like to verify this. Actually, no multimedia players can play VCDs, but
they do play DVDs without any problems. I've used Kaffeine, VLC, Totem, Xine,
and MPlayer and all of them crashed. This is not a Kaffeine specific issue.

added a comment about the changed default value for --dpd-idle to the

The above problem and several video related problems resolved themselves
after I downloaded and installed an NVidia driver my computer required.
Apparently the driver got wiped out when I upgraded to Ubuntu 7.04, and
was not included in the upgrade because it is proprietary,
