there is no file or directory in /var/crash.
"Unfortunately" I did not have another crash up to now.
I will be at home until Sunday evening so I cannot check my machine's state or

I un-installed, through Synaptic, everything Beryl/Compiz that I could;
all the Beryl is gone; minimum Compiz left. It's still doing exactly
what I described before. Guess that kind of means that it possibly
ISN'T Beryl's 'bug', with the other folks. I guess it's a panel

open with Kate an existent file or when you open Kate to create a new
file? And what is the directory that don't allow you to save? Thanks for

I've uploaded a new .po file today in Rosetta with many fixes and send it to
the french KDE team.
For those who want to have it now, just unpack the file and execute this
command :
sudo cp konversation.mo /usr/share/locale-langpack/fr/LC_MESSAGES/

In the meantime I have managed to get rdesktop to work by downgrading libx11-6.
To do this:
1) run synaptic package manager
2) search for libx11-6
3) highlight it and then choose FORCE VERSION from the PACKAGE menu
4) choose the next lowest version, press OK and follow the prompts

Unless someone else has the same problem, we can't progress without
something more to go on, I'm afraid. I'm hoping that the System Logs
