I've just tried this (I didn't know about it, thanks!), but it doesn't
seem to work. That is, no matter what channel I pick the keys seem to
move the same slider all the time, the PCM one. I'll have to try some

I did an install in a vmware guest to see what I should have been

For anyone who is interested to test hot new crack, I prepared hal 0.5.9
packages which work on current Feisty for me:

They will be uploaded to gutsy as soon as it opens. NB that you need
hal-info_20070402-1_all.deb for the new hal package.

I have the same problem on my new motherboard (Pentium4-3ghz-HT) and kernel
2.6.15-28 on my dapper server. I have moved HDs from an AMD motherboard to this
one and I have lost all acpi temperature monitoring.
