Another note:
after disabling *all* my own settings about file locking OOo is working on my
NFS-Shares again! WoW!
This has not been working since ages ;). So I consider the current release of
the packages a big step forward.

The only diferense between "Xorg.conf.Original" and "xorg.con" is that
I'v changed the driver to fgrlx istead of ati. I'v ungraded som packages
now where I think there were ati driver packages in. I'll reboot and
tell if it works or not.

Definitely there should be notification to user that table creation is
necessary first, even if that notification is only an error dialog.
I wonder if this hanging error is not coming up for me because I built
my OO.o 2.2 from RPM (because I'm running Dapper and I can't get 2.2
Motherboard is Epox EP-8KTA3+ and it had all the updates (including
kernel) applied (restarted etc).
However, I couldn't live with a server that was this unstable, so I'm no
longer running this hardware... If no one else is complaining you might
as well close this bug.

I had the same experience.
With the default Fiesty libxvid I only achieved 3-4 FPS. Simply downloading the
xvid 1.1.2 source tarball and doing

I just came across this thread and would like to add my own information

I just installed kubuntu 6.10 on a very old IBM Thinkpad laptop, with a
Celeron running at 400 MHz. It has 256 MB RAM (which maxes out the
