I was trying to create a standard downloads folder from within the
program, first in the home directory and then again in it's subdirectory
desktop. When I pressed the button to create the new directory on the
desktop the folder icon expanded,
Could you please do a

and check if it still occurs. If so, could yu please show a list of
pyton packages and qt packages that are installed.

minutes doing exactly this -- so breaking out of the initramfs shouldnt
make a difference.
Anyway, please do that so your system boots, and then provide the output

- Version number must become -5.1ubuntu0.1, since it introduces Ubuntu changes

- Put the panel volume control on low vol

So, in order not to overpop
it is so broad because the event changes in relation to the brightness value.

My WUSB54G v4 from ebay uses the rt2500 chipset and driver and doesn't
connect to WPA in Feisty; I get a pop-up saying "requires security

It turns out that this isn't completely failing to load, it's just
taking an exceptionally long time.
stracing suggests that it is spawning ssh's for some reason, to 192.168
addresses on my home network, but I'm at work, so they just time out and
eventually the applet loads.

The only composite manager I have is compiz, which is part of the
default installation. I cannot uninstall it because ubuntu-desktop is
dependent on it.
If there is a way to disable compiz without uninstalling it, I do not
know.
