my system from edgy to feisty and the kernel 2.6.17-11-generic didn't
work anymore (the latest 2.6.20 kernels don't either!). However,

Hi!
My Atmel based WiFi nic on usb bus works with at76c503 driver with device name
wlan0.
The problem is that, by default, the MULTICAST flag is disabled on wlan0, so
avahi is not able to work with it.

Oops sorry, forgot to mention the hardware.
Motherboard has an Nvidia nForce2 chipset. The video card is an Nvidia
GeForce 6200 (which is detected properly by the Live environment).
