I have had this problem on dapper, edgy and now I'm having it on
feisty beta. I have a Toshiba Satellite M50-228. A month ago I bought an
optical wireless mouse with a USB-receiver. When I plug it and turn it
on, it works only for a couple of minutes. Then the mouse cursor c
forgot to say: if I unplug the mouse, wait a little and then plug it
in again, it still doesn't work. The only thing, that "helps" is a
reboot, but then it works again only a few minutes.

When I get X.org to startup, it uses "vesa". I don't know what it is
using before x.org loads up. If I were to install ubuntu instead of just
running it off the CD, I could get the proprietary "nvidia" to be used.

I just realised something...sleep and hibernate both work almost
perfectly when using the proprietary nvidia driver (nvidia-glx). This
bug applies to the Xorg supplied nv driver.

By coincidence Michel Danzer and I were experimenting with packages he
built sans xcb, see the upstream bug:

What we discovered is that it's definitely caused by xcb, and it's a
client-side issue - respawning metacity after changing the pac
I suppose it is a hal bug...
It happens every times, so it is strange that nobody has this issue...

I had this issue on Dapper and still have it on Edgy with my Dell D600
laptop. I can get the mouse back by Ctrl-Alt F1 and then Alt F7 to get
back to X. It sure is annoying!

Notify popups (I only knew there was supposed to be text because some of

Nope, it still doesn't work, the module for the sata controller doesn't
get loaded, i have to run /scripts/init-premount/udev by hand, only then
do i get access to the disk & the lvm volumes.
After mounting the root fs to /root and killing udev can i resume
booting.

Whenever there is a lot of 3d activity on the screen, such as a 3d screensaver,
a 3d game, or the rotating cube in compiz, the system immediately reboots. The
syslog does not contain any error message.

After boot, the Logitech diNovo keyboard + mouse combo (wireless via usb
adapter) do not work. When removing the USB plug and inserting it again, it
works immediately.
I am using the latest versions from Feisty's Apt.

Btw., I also tried playing with the 915resolution tool, but this only
*reduced* the screen resolution even further (to 640x680).

I have two identical (as far as I know) AverMedia 771 DVB-T cards
installed on this system. This system does PVR duties with mythtv,
amongst other things.
Running Gentoo, and later Dapper, I was able to use both DVB car
