Hello,
The brightness problem occurs even if the driver is compiled as a
module. Any keyboard or mouse activity doesn't turn it back on. Only the
brightness keys do. So, I'm guessing that that brightness problem is
related to some weird power management feature.

Exit code -11 is a segmentation fault; the only real way that can happen
in this particular context is if there's been a problem reading from the
CD. This is generally due to a faulty CD/DVD disk or drive, rather than

This bug should be fixed both for Edgy and Dapper. It is an obvious
flaw, and it is providing much hassle for us which depend on Dapper for
LTS. We have to go around and patch every new Dapper box for this flaw,
and my day would be much more convenient if this was fixed for all
releases :)

As commented in a duplicate report of this bug, the problem is related
with the plural form expression we had for Romanian. It's now fixed and

Indeed, this is a problem with the hard disk (and Feisty's installer
will tell you that rather than crashing). It may help to check whether
the hard disk is old and in need of replacement, or to move the system

I added Lithuanian language, and then I'm switching from default to my
native, that part of keyboard (on laptop) there is number keypad acts

Forgot to mention, my notebook is a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo M 1425. No
BIOS updates are available - it's as if the hardware has been pretty
much orphaned from a support point of view.
