yes, both harddisks are connected the same way. Bios shows primary master,
comes up as hda.
i did some testing on the old harddisk:
1. 20GB harddisk, 5GB primary NTFS partition running Windows XP, rest
empty. Partitioner does not offer Manual. All available options lead to
a red window saying "no

I think the problem is /etc/init.d/vmware-player is just getting marked
as a config file and it shouldn't. Looking at other packages, it
appears /etc/rc2*.d symlinks don't themselves get removed until purge.

It happens on x86 too. It usually happens when another notification
balloon is visible. I think it's gaim's notification icon code that
crashes rather than the main code. It is pretty common crash.

If you move the existing profile and make a new one does this fix the
issue? A couple of things sound possible, 1. profile became corrupt and
that is why it is crashing(ther eis another bug or 2 like that with
thunderbird upgrades. Or 2. an extension or theme is causing this crash.

Binary package hint: compiz
The main firefox window is displayed as active when it should be
inactive. This problem occurs when other windows have been activated.
Graphics card is an Intel GMA 950. Using ubuntu feisty, compiz enabled
through desktop effects application.

All but the "Browser *" keys can be easily assigned to the needed
function in the Gnome keyboard preferences. Of course this should
eventually work out of the box.
But the "Browser *" keys are more tricky. I think there are some
standard X keysyms for "Back" and "Forward" at least, XF86_Back or
so

I agree with Bob Wallum.
I'm from México and this bug is big here too. I can't really talk for
all my country, but in my state is awful.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. When dropped to a shell when booting the new kernel could you
please type 'ls /dev/disk/by-uuid/' and add the content to your bug
report? If you could also add the contents of '/boot/grub/menu.lst'
that would help to

On Feisty, after latest update, gdm for some reason won't bring up the login
screen. gdm will launch normally. NVidia logo is displayed (or not with nv
