This should be fixed in git, there were some issues in 2.6.20 with
libata and power management. Could you please also attach an Xorg.log.0,
and try from the console (with no X running)?

Can you post an lsmod and the complete dmesg? Softlockups are caused by
someone holding interrupts disabled for too long (which can be caused by
either a long delay in a critical section, or a deadlock on a spinlock),
so they are quite hard to debug without all the info other than the
"soft lockup
Fairly certain this one is fixed with the -11 kernel. Most likely caused
by the wireless rfkill switch.
Try flipping the switch to see if it affects the boot, and if it does,
try upgrading to the -11 kernel to see if that resolves the boot problem
for when the switch is enabled.

I cannot retrace properly because most part of the crash seems to have
been produced by a third party extension named "[EMAIL PROTECTED]".
For this reason I'm going to close this bug since we cannot do nothing

Same problem with new Thinkpad T60 and Feisty: The hardware brightness
keys (Fn+Home "brighter" & Fn+End "dimmer") are working in most strange
way: when either one is pressed the display is made blank.

This is fucked. Your syslog claims that the e1000 checksum is corrupted,
so it fails to insert it, but you say that later the driver loads fine.
Can you add the e1000.eeprom_bad_csum_allow=1 to the kernel command line
or add it for modprobe.d so that the bad checksum is ignored (I added
this to 2.
