there is no xorg.log. Do you mean Xorg.0.log? I attached it. After
playing around a bit, I got Xorg to load with nvidia module if I did a
ctrl + alt + backspace. I had to use the nv module to load gdm when
booting the system though.

I tried the edgy-proposed 0.2.0 and the same thing happens. Sometimes
after two moves, sometimes three or four. But in the end the same
thing, the program dies. And that means this fix didn't work.

Just tested with herd5 and had the same problem. Booting the live cd
takes about 10 minutes. There is a terrible long timeout for the hard
drives. As soon as any app on the live cd tries to use any drive, that
app locks up permanently.

the user wanted to play, say, a locally stored MP3 or AAC. This is why

restart X (Ctrl-Alt-Backspace) once you have switched the monitor on.

Im having the same issue on Xubuntu Herd 5 on a XPS 1210 laptop. I'm using the
alternate-install cd and once at the partitioning menu, I see no option for
manual partitioning. If I click on ANY option, I get the red screen as well as
a message - "No Root Filesystems"

Looking in feisty I see that
/etc/ppp/peers/kppp-options just contains 'noauth'.
But I have no 56k modem to test that it actually works.
If someone have a 56k modem that works well with Linux, he could

laptop, and upon booting into feisty, ACPI suspend no longer works (it
would go into suspend, but will not wakeup).

Ok, the software wireless on/off button works as well, with edgy's
linux-image-2.6.17-11. So it appears to be an ACPI issue with 2.6.20 on
the ASUS W3N.
