There is a very important bug in unsquashfs from Ubuntu 6.10 "Edgy" - it
doesn't care about setuid/setgid permission bits when extracting compressed
filesystem.
This couses big problems for developers, because they get different results
when extracting with unsquashfs and w
I too confirm this bug for dmraid on Feisty Herd 5 (amd64). When booting
from the HDD the only message I receive to the console is "no block
devices found". (I believe this message is issued by dmraid.) The
workaround suggested by Quikee solves the problem.

Already attached oops.txt provides full dmesg output together with the
crash. Same goes with "uname -a" - see first line.
I am attaching lspci output now. BTW, you need to instruct users to run
lspci with "sudo", otherwise most of information will not be reported
(access denied).

When I switch the time to 'UNIX' in the clock applet, gnome-panel goes
to lunch. The session manager? begins to cycle, can't use the menus or
launch an alt-f2 emergency repair. To be certain, I created a new user
account and switched it's clock to UNIX with similar results...

Interestingly,the above (disabling the JMicron controller makes feisty
bootable)only applies to the LiveCD of Herd-5,once installed/upgraded to

With the latest updates, things are snappy again. Quite snappy indeed.
But the only problem is that I'm suddenly loosing input focus on gnome-
terminal and xterm windows.
Just as suddenly it comes back, at a random time...
I don't think this has anything to do with metacity.

I have an up-to-date Feisty (dist-upgrade from Edgy).
If logout dialog appear on power button event and choose "Hibernate" I get this
same dialog when resuming.
Of course I get blank screen to unlock just before.

I did a "sudo update-manager -d" to upgrade my second instance of edgy, that is

The voip branch of gossip is not up-to-date. It has many conflics, if

It appears both .desktop files above have the NoDisplay=true attribute.
Nevertheless, the Icon attribute doesn't match the case of the icon on
the file system.

Bug #88290 is NOT a duplicate of this bug.
Bug #86893 deals with hp-toolbox not working if python is not installed.
Bug #88290 deals with an icon not showing up because the filename does
not match the Icon attribute in the desktop entry.

Another solution is versioned Egg file name (that is allowed), but in
that case pkg_resources always detects only the older package (1.0.1)
even if python-pysqlite2 is providing versioned Egg.
(I still recommend to remove Egg file from python-sqlite, see my
previous patch)

If only python-pysqlite2 is providing versioned Egg, pkg_resources

nw8440 laptop
I got a VESA driven screen at 1280x1024 instead of the native monitor
resolution 1680x1050
At least it should have used vesa Mode: 144 (1400x1050)

I confirm this bug on Edgy.
Menu entries for hp-fab.desktop and hp-sendfax.desktop have missing icons
because they point to HPMenu.xpm instead of HPmenu.xpm

Ok, so because there wasn't any Ubuntu dev giving any attention to this
bug, I decided to report it upstream myself. I just added a remote bug
watch. Within a few hours I already got a reply on my bugreport, the bug
is apparantly not X.org's fault, but Ubuntu's fault. I can imagine that

I have still the same problem. My IDE CDRom connected to JMicron (IDE
Mode) connector is not detected by ubuntu 6.10 installer. Motherboard
asus p5B, bios is the latest bios. SATA disk connected to ICH8. JMicron
is enabled and set to IDE mode. ICH8 is enabled and set to AHCI. WinXP
works perfectly.
OK, I change my recommendation to:
* leave this (python-sqlite) package untouched
* apply my patch from #87493 to python-pysqlite2
