Ok, so I've confirmed that a) this is not due to my dotfiles, I've
reproduced it on the same machine with a freshly created user. b) this
is a gnome not X or xmodmap problem as if I start a 'failsafe terminal'
session, xmodmap works fine. Reassigning to control-centre as discussed

This need some development on the plugin finder service. Though upstream
cannot directly make use of that feature, there should probably be hooks
in upstream code to allow distributors to extend plugin finder service
in such a way, that users get suggestions on packages as well.

sudo setpci -s nn:nn.n 4c.b=0x02 (of course I had to replace the "n"

please open a separate wishlist bug if you want other extensions

As this issue seems somewhat hard to remedy completely, I decided to
