it might just be general slowness that i haven't noticed before - i've
seen that it doesn't happen as badly with smaller terminal windows, and
is particularly acute with a maximised window. i still feel that it
really should be faster though.

This is *not* caused by DHCP releases simply being renewed I have tested
this just now (with both NetworkManager and a standard ifup)
I can think only possibly it might happen if you got a new IP every
lease every few seconds but this seems silly as everything else would
drop out also

I've just realised I'm totally wrong the message that is actually
appearing is from update-notifier, not /etc/network/if-up.d/avahi-daemon
unfortunately its midnight I must goto bed I will continue to
investigate this issue tomorrow

Avahi behaves badly where there is a unicast .local-domain.
No, there isn't anyway to obtain an oops from the initramfs. However, I
have obtained an oops myself.
The bug is caused by Unionfs calling lookup_one_len() on an NFS mounted
filesystem, see

Hi [anybody listening here ?!]
Since we went back to 2.6.15-26.47 we had enourmous stability problems
and the NFS server machine locked up hard every hour or so on medium
load. No traces or logfiles, sorry.
We went back to the 2.6.15-26.46 and had no problems since.

putting the following in my /etc/default/bluez-utils is the only thing
that ever made my keyboard, mediapad and mouse (all 3 are bluetooth
devices) work with
I just wanted to confirm this bug as I am able to reproduce this
problem. I do not know what package to assign this bug to though, so I
will keep looking.
