Are you able to test the edgy or even feisty kernel to see if this is
still a problem there? It looks like a driver problem on dapper. The
"unknown partition table" message looks suspicious. Can you please post
the entire dmesg?

I can see that there is a pipe being created and then a thread is spawn with
clone. After that, every time the parent thread looks at the pipe, it returns
immediately, even though neither thread is writing or reading from it, just

Maybe /etc/kernel-img.conf is changed to not mess with symlinks. Can you
send that file? Regardless, update-initramfs shouldn't be trying to do
this for symlinks.
What I believe is happening is that it's doing it for the running
kernel. Did you uninstall 2.6.17-50 and then perform this upgrade?

The only reason we're not sure it will work, is you ignoring my request
to test it. If you COULD test it, then we could put a permanent fix into

I think this may be the issue that I've seen since audacious was still
beep-media-player, where the entire screen "locks up" due to a single
dialog from beep/audacious. In my case, I was only able to close it by
tabbing over to the OK button. You might also be able to work around it
by switching

matter of fact, it isn't activated by default, what is a very annoying
