I have the same problem with Ubuntu Feisty. I checked the
/var/log/messages and /var/log/syslog and found following error right
before the computer hangs itself:

thunderbird cannot overwrite language files installed via apt.
I haven't tested interupting the updating process with newer versions of

I have this problem on my laptop with a cardbus ethernet adaptor. You
can see in the attached log that the card is detected and after dhcp

I can't find gnome-panel-dbg searching through apt but did find the
others. Expect a new "automated" bug report momentarily.
(somehow I feel like a middle man, maybe it would be easier if you could
tell my computer what you wanted it to do for me ;) )

What do you call "randomly", does it change when you use the key several
time or it's having one look or the other in a consistant way? The
transparent window is a gnome-control-center feature used when a
composite manager is running. Maybe there is problem with the function
doing that choice. Does

Marking unconfirmed, the log doesn't look really useful. Maybe somebody
wants to forward the code upstream, we have too many bugs for the number
of people working on them at the moment and upstream knows the code
