One more thing... In terms of cleaning up my disk I don't think I have
to do anything about files in the tmp directory, and they will go away
by themselves. However, I think the /var/crash directory files need to
be removed manually--but that file was apparently created with root

The problem is in the gconf keys. You can go there an activate the

I am getting a similar error booting Feisty (Herd 3) in the VirtualBox
VM (Windows host, default VM settings). If the two are unrelated I can

For what it's worth, I did manage to install compiz and friends by
removing the lines calling gconf-schemas in the postinst scripts (and
prerm). It sort of worked but I had problems with windows decorations
that I haven't sorted out yet

Reproduction:
Goto users.bigpond.net.au/dumbbeatnix and click on Resume1 on the
screen.
I will try Resume2, but if it don't work for this then I can't see it
working for that.

As stated in the previous comment, the same thing happens with the
partitioner in the feisty herd3 install. You make any changes
whatsoever in the manual partition screen, and clicking "back" will give
you a never-ending busy cursor. Cancel is the only thing that still
works.

ran perfectly under Dapper are broken in Edgy.

I fixed the behavior when wine is not installed (just need to change to
using software-properties-kde when that is uploaded).
You can ignore the regedit errors, those are optional keys that are
created as needed.
The last one I'm not sure on right now. Can you check if it happens
with a us_en lo
Experienced the same problem. Have been informed this is common on
Feisty.
