The ralink open source drivers are currently a mess in feisty. The
rt2400/rt2500/rt2570 drivers are built from the legacy source and the
rt61pci/rt73usb drivers are built from rt2x00 source. Both source
packages date back to the first of December. The legacy rt2500 driver is
known not to work with
I have recreated this on a 64bit Edgy system with eterm package
0.9.3-1ubuntu1 and klipper 3.5.5-0ubuntu3.2.

I have a similar problem with my laptop screen - it only appears to
allow resolutions 1280x800 and 1024x768, though 915resolution shows far
more. I think the problem is fundamentally determined by the resolution
of the laptop screen (mine is a wider screen that prefers these wide
screen resolution

It doesn't seem to work for me. I upgraded my edgy to feisty, (I now
have xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.6.2-0ubuntu6) and I still get the same
symptoms (freeze when agp speed set to 8x in BIOS and DRI enabled in
xorg.conf, no freeze if DRI disabled or AGP speed set to auto in
BIOS).

When I run enable Desktop Effects in the Control Center, window
decorations disappear completely. Windows can be minimized/maximized
from the dock, and desktop switching works. (

And another thing: this is Ubuntu Feisty freshly updated from the normal
repositories.
I could never get compiz or beryl to work correctly on this machine,
though using some other repositories I could in the past at least get
them to work slowly (and very unstably).

only accepts user/group ids.

This doesn't just happen with the installed system, the live cd does the
same thing. So if not a configuration problem I don't think.
This maybe just be one of those funny 1/100 bugs...I guess I'll just
have to get use to plugging in the mouse when I boot.

I did some additional testing and it doesn't happen every time.
So far, if I start KDE and then start Kontact, I don't get akregator,
but if I leave Kontact open and restart the computer so that Kontact
starts automatically on login to KDE, then akregator starts.
