Same thing on my laptop with feisty herd 2. Fan don't work anymore.
Laptop very hot where the cpu is located.
I have try with and without acpi=force and the result is the same.
In lsmod asus_acpi seem loaded, but my laptop is not an asus.

Shouldn't this be do-not-hibernate, or do-not-suspend-to-disk?

Thanks for your response! I trust the "non-free" codecs packages have
been installed? In case you didn't know, due to copyright and patent
reasons, Ubuntu can't ship with any non-open multimedia codecs (software
you need to play media files). As such, you need extra packaged to be
able to playback

of Feisty.
Unlike other releases, on Feisty the snd_seq module seems to be loaded by
default. However, I made sure to remove this module (thus removing the
/dev/snd/seq device that zynaddsubfx looks for) and try to launch zy

this is after a reinstall so I don't know how much help this will be but here
are the files you requested. I'm on Ubuntu now so it's working, I probably
caused the problem by trying to load Grub on sda instead of the default hd0
(fyi).
