I appear to have the same bug. It basically makes edgy -> feisty upgrades on
raid system not-feasible.
I have to use an edgy kernel on an otherwise feisty system if I don't want to
stuff around with the boot process/

I have seen this exact issue in Edgy, as well, but it occurred when
using the default theme.
I installed Edgy on a system with an i815 onboard graphics chips. X was
set to a 24-bit display by default and the above issue was noted. After
reducing to a 16bit display the issue resolved itself.
