if it's a specific ubuntu problem a config problem or a cvs (upstream

This is now fixed in CVS HEAD. I have a patch for the gnome-2-16 branch
at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348209.
I don't know if it will be commited to that branch though.

The problem doesn't have to do with the restricted nVidia drivers. I
recently changed from the non-free ("nvidia") driver to the free ("nv")
driver, and the problem still appeared after a while.
What about you, Joachim, are you using the nVidia drivers as
I have removed blackdown java. Hopefully this will help. However, keep
in mind that I have been unable to repeat this problem by switching
through the themes again.

I'm still running Dapper.
I ran the backtrace as described in the wiki page, but frankly it doesn't look
like it got any useful information:

Given it doesn't appear that Nautilus is actually crashing, it is likely
hanging while walking the directory tree on the ssh machine, hence why
it only hangs while you have tree view up.
