It's not fixed in AMD64 Edgy. I had to apt-get source ... to build with

As a revision to my statement before, I've done a little more research
and I've further determined the cause of the problem. Totem crashes on
my computer if and only if I'm using an external monitor. I suspect the
problem is an nvidia driver issue and not an issue with totem.

As a FURTHER update, switching to the latest beta version of the nvidia
driver, 1.0-9742, has cleared up this problem. Video works fine for me

But could you see if it a flash problem. Flash doesn't work well with
the composite extension. Could you put:

This happens to me too with Herd 1 of Feisty Fawn on a Dell Dimension
9200c desktop with an Intel G965 chipset and a DVD/CDROM Drive: _NEC
DVD+-RW ND-6650A.
After being dropped to the Busy Box shell, I see the following messages:

I believe this is related to the bug 64487 which can usually be fixed by
setting:
xres=1024
yres=768
in /etc/usplash.conf
however, i wouldn't worry about how it looks from the live cd as i am
sure they use a "safe" size to somewhat work with as many as possible.

I have no idea what caused this. At the same time I could not open new
windows and I could not log out so I had to press ctrl-backspace to
restart Xorg.

This was also an issue on a Dell XPS M1210 laptop.
I had a couple of failed attempts at installing the latest version
(v1.2.15) of the ieee80211 subsystem (as instructed by the installation
notes for the ipw3945 drivers from http://ipw3945.sourceforge.net/)
which ended up screwing up my kernel and
I was attempting to load a new page and my firefox 2.0 web browser
crashed suddenly. i'm using ubuntu edgy but i have a amd64 cpu. not
sure if that has is a factor with this though.

Is anyone still having this issue? After doing some poking around it
looks like a kde application maybe be writing something flaky to
~/.gtkrc
If you are still having this issue please post the contents of
~/.gtkrc and ~/.gtkrc-2.0
