Well, top only reports cpu usage in the exact moment of measurement or
at least something very similar to this... i.e. you could even get 100%
cpu usage by a app that is sleeping most of the time.
A better way would be something like gkrellm's cpu usage graph or just
the cpu time of the progress c

"Automatic" proxy configuration, AFAIK, requires you to download a
Javascript file via http://wpad/wpad.dat (Web Proxy Auto Discovery, or
something) and then interpret this file as a Javascript file.
Ubuntu contains libjs0, which is a complete Javascript library
implementation. The functions that
Auto proxy config can't work for non-browser apps, because the autoproxy
script is a Javascript file (see my comments on Bug 22705). However,
this should be noted somewhere.
Or perhaps we can move installation of updates into the browser, like
Microsoft does. :-p
