ap any' almost always makes it work - but then again why should it be run
manually?

Ah, I see; this is pretty similar to the existing server case where we
sometimes add a serial console getty.
I think that's the appropriate way to tackle this here; as we can't tell
on a strictly architecture level whether or not the machine is likely to
have getty-on-VT or getty-on-Serialishness

correct the problem. So by changing the permissions in .config/autostart
it is solved.

permission of that folder, if you figure what you probably can open a
bug against it

When I close azureus, no icon shows up in the GNOME panel (top right
corner). Normally this happens (eg on FC4) but on Ubuntu it doesn't.
Also not that in the panel at the bottom, 'Azureus' doesn't have the
usual frog icon, but instead has a default window icon.

I just noticed this bug in the Dapper release, too: If it is updated to
Kernel 2.6.15-27 (which it seems to do automatically), the ipw3945
module for the centrino platform stops working, because
/usr/sbin/ipw3945d-* isn't correctly renamed to ipw3945-2.6.15-27. Thus,
you have to manually rename it

receiving the most attention, and the inconsistent and mysterious
behaviours others are reporting in 50031 are consistent (:->) with the
