i can confirm, that this bug involves also xine-ui in ubuntu edgy. but,
in totem, there is 3 seconds enough to got gui freeze, in xine-ui it
takes 15 seconds of furious tapping before i make it freeze.
nevertheless it's definitely xine bug.

Can you still reproduce this problem? Maybe your BIOS has an option for
"quick-boot" or verbose or full tests or something that you can try?
Nothing is run from the HD, but maybe the BIOS initializes the screen
when it displays its F12 boot menu.

It true in the UK too PC World and all the other stores only sale

Correct. There is no VT, only the console on /dev/hvc0 (in fact, my

I can confirm this, the -4 kernel's booting but -6 hangs on "Waiting for root
file system".
-6 was working on the 22nd nov, but after updates on the 23rd nov it's stopped.
Notably, with the -4 kernel various init scripts are run between
"Mounting.." and where the -6 kernel has "waiting for root".
Try adding "noreplacement" to the kernel command line to turn off the
dynamic opcode patching...

The pyton crash report was same time as the others. there are 2 others
one apt-get and one aptitude but they are marked with wrong permissions
and using chmod doesnt help, when i figure out how to do it ill add

I can confirm this bug on an IBM Thinkpad X30 when booting from the Edgy

Initially my wireless interface did not show up at all. Unloading
hostap_pci, prism2_pci, and orinoco_pci then reloading orinoco_pci fixed

There seem to be problems with your dvd drive or with the media.
Did You check the cd for errors? Did You check the md5 sum?
Also, please try with another dvd drive and see whether it works.

Confirmed. Just downgrading hal, libhal, and libhal-storage does not
appear to help, however...

The following patch against fglrx makes it function correctly in dom0,
opengl and all. I'm currently running this patched fglrx with xen dom0,
beryl/xgl and it feels basically native performance!
Please include in feisty :)
