The server kernel is very specialized, and optimized, so I don't have
any real plans to back down the targetted architecture to remove

So for the mdadm problem, removing "/usr/share/initramfs-
tools/hooks/mdadm" solve the problem, no more warning on boot nor on
update-initramfs. Still the "BUG: soft lockup detected on CPU#0!" on
2.6.19-6 is occuring. I'll try compiling a custom 2.6.19 to see if it
also occurs.

The distribution/package upgrade should do the conversion, and not
upgrade-grub. Really. If the conversion needs to be baked into upgrade-
grub, it should only be invoked by a special option --convert-to-UUID

I forgot to tell that I work with Xinerama and a Dual Screen Config and
4 virtual screens and a NVIDIA gfx card. Maybe this will give hints as
you'll see later.
So after several tests I found a way to get rid of the problem.

Same issue here upgrading from Dapper to Edgy. I also have beryl and
nvidia-glx-dev installed.

You're completely right, the module mod_tls is compiled as a DSO module only in
the edgy and backport dapper package.
Thus all you need to use the module is to add this line in your proftpd.conf
file :

Also like in bug 72139 the laptop's monitor hotkey does not work. When
the projector is plugged in I am unable to get the laptop display
working.

Confirmed, if you kill kdesktop then restart it the screensaver begins
to work. I found I had to put a sleep between the kill and restart like
this: killall kdesktop;sleep 1;kdesktop&

This patch sets the default of "savedefault to "false". This is the
only sane default setting, since if the user wants to use the
savedefault feature, he has to edit the menu.lst manually anyway.

The warning in menu.lst about desyncing mirrors is wrongly formulated.
It is not the "saved" value of "default" that will do any harm, but
"savedefault" trying to write to the MBR of the raid.
This patch corrects the wording.
